I carried out a speedcheck today along the 30mph limit stretch of Elsworth Road at 17.40 this evening. I am pleased to say that we encountered no speeding vehicles.
This evening I also attended the Knapwell Annual Parish Council Meeting. It was lovely to see those of you who were there and meet a few new faces! Unfortunately I had to leave before the end to attend a job however if there is is anything that you feel you did not get a chance to chat to me about please do not hesitate to contact me either by return e-cops or on 0345 456 456 4.
I am looking forward to my visit to the Fen Drayton Over 60s Club (7.30pm today, Thursday 13th May) hopefully I will see a few of you there. I also plan to visit the Connections Bus which is in Fen Drayton this evening.
So far this week we have had an incident of an escaped white(ish) shetland pony in Papworth which has since been homed at Wood Green Animal Shelter where it will stay for two weeks to see if an owner comes forward, after this time they will look to re-home the pony.
We have also been contacted by people who have received calls from a company who do telephone marketing for a publication which claims to be affiliated with Cambridgeshire Constabulary and other emergency services. We have checked with our marketing department, they are aware of this company, who are not in any way affiliated with Cambridgeshire Constabulary. Trading standards are aware of this company and if you do recieve unwanted contact from them please do contact from them please do contact Trading Standards.
Finally I am aware of an ongoing issue of criminal damage to the football pavillion in Fen Drayton. For those that voluntarily invest their time and energies in maintaining the football club and to have to repeatedly repair this damage it is understandably very frustrating. I am monitoring this situation and carrying out my patrols accordingly. However, if you have any information which may help with this issue please do contact me.
Can I also just remind you all of the Panel Meeting on Tuesday 18th May at Fen Drayton Village Hall. |

I am aware that there have been a few incidents concerning a deaf male knocking on doors trying to sell pictures, he has certainly got about as we've had calls from Papworth, Papworth St Agnes, Dry Drayton, Caldecote, Over and Madingley - we have caught up with him and have checked all necessary details and have submitted intelligence accordingly however it appears he is still out and about so if you spot him please call 0345 456 456 4.
We've also had more door to door sellers knocking in Papworth late at night again we have details of the vehicle they have used but if they come to your door please let us know.
We've also had a horse on the loose in Knapwell which I’m pleased to say horse and owner were found and the horse was safely put back into its field.
And we also had a tree fall across the road on Ermine Street in Papworth. We attended and put on a temporary diversion and thanks to some great assistance the road closure was not on for too long.
My surgery last week at Fen Drayton Primary School was very enjoyable and I had a lovely few visits. I have a visit booked to the Fen Drayton Over 60s club next week (Thursday 13th May) so hopefully I will see a few of you there! |

My colleague PC Claire Reeve and I have been carrying out speedchecks this week. I carried one out on Cootes Lane, Fen Drayton and found 5 cars were exceeding the speed-limit in a half hour period between 15.00 and 15.30, this was right outside a primary school at school collection time! We also carried out a check on Toesland Road, Graveley (28/04/2010) and gave one verbal warning and another driver a ticket for driving at 50mph! Finally we checked Boxworth Road, Elsworth on Monday between 08.40 and 09.15 and no warnings or tickets had to be issued which is good to see.
Last week I held a surgery in Papworth Hospital and was very pleased to get a few visitors! Please keep coming to visit me if you have any concerns. I am hoping to organise a surgery in Elsworth next month - the Old Baptist Chapel on Boxworth Road (opposite the George and Dragon) has kindly been suggested as a venue so I will arrange a date and let you all know.
We are still having a few problems at Pendrill Court in Papworth with people kicking footballs and causing a general nuisance. I will continue to tackle this during my patrols.
There has been a vehicle spotted in suspicious circumstances on the High Street in Graveley, this was fully checked out and we have recorded all necessary details of the vehicle seen on our intelligence system however please do keep on the look out. Can I thank you all again for being so vigilant and calling these instances in.
I am still keeping an eye out for anti-social driving in Fen Drayton. If you see any vehicles, (particularly if you note their registration) driving in an anti-social manner i.e. not only speeding but in a manner which causes alarm distress or annoyance e.g handbrake turns, riding motorbikes across public footpaths, beeping horns when there is no apparent danger frequently whilst driving etc.
And finally... please spread the word about e-cops! I am really keen to get as many people signed up to it as possible so not only can you receive my weekly update but you can all respond to me by return e-cops. If there is anyone you know of that is interested in e-cops please forward them the following link... www.cambs.police.uk/signup/ecops
If I can be of any assistance please let me know (0345 456 456 4).
Kindest regards
PCSO Kerrie Macinnes |
