·Ely neighbourhood team, along with reactive officers, responded to a call from a member of the public who was watching two young men walking around acting suspiciously knocking on doors and called the police. On arrival of the police they both decided to do a runner and eventually after some frantic chasing, garden hopping, area search and containment (lasting nearly an hour) they were both caught. To cut a very long story short a number of pieces of jewellery were found in one of the men’s possession which came from burglaries. A search revealed yet more jewellery in his bedroom which was linked to burglaries. Both men have subsequently been charged with burglary and are going through the court process. ·Two relatively unknown individuals decide to go committing car crime in the East Cambs area and are disturbed breaking into cars in Wilburton. Excellent work by Ely neighbourhood team and reactive officers for flooding the area and finding the vehicle in Witchford using the skills of the helicopter. Both men were arrested and subsequently charged with three thefts from cars. ·An operation to focus on offenders from East Cambs and South Cambs continues, targeting those committing burglaries, theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles across South Cambs, East Cambs and Cambridge city, Bedfordshire and British Transport Police property (railway station car parks). A joint warrant with Bedfordshire police on a property in Bedfordshire led to the recovery of four shotguns hidden in a bush on an empty caravan plot. One of these shotguns had been sawn off. Also recovered hidden was an amount of jewellery. The shotguns and jewellery are suspected to have come from burglaries in Cambridgeshire. A 15 year old boy was arrested and is currently on bail. ·A man was caught burgling a ground floor flat in College grounds, he was charged and remanded. ·A man has been charged with a burglary in Fen Ditton and three thefts from Abbey Meadows School and The Fields Early Learning Centre. He was also charged with possession with intent to supply as he had a small quantity of Cannabis on him, debt sheet and text messages indicating previous supply. He is currently remanded in custody. ·Four people have been arrested and bailed in connection with a robbery which happened on Parkers Piece a few weeks back. Two groups all out enjoying themselves and beer is stolen from one group by the other group using force. ·A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with two burglaries, dangerous driving and using stolen property. This follows an attempt burglary in Fordham and a police chase into the city. Both boys have been remanded in custody.

So far this week there was the Childrens Play Centre Open Day at Papworth which I hope those who attended enjoyed! We are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision that resulted in the deaths of two men. The crash happened in Brockley Road, Elsworth at about 5.15pm on 11th August. It involved a Black Ford Fiesta Zetec-S car that was heading north, and two white Scania concrete mixer lorries that were heading South. Both the driver and passenger of the car died from their injuries at the scene. Police are now investigating how the collision took place and would like to speak to anyone with information. Anyone with information should contact PC Francis Crawford at the Roads Policing Unit on 0345 456 456 4. We have had a few suspicious circumstances calls this week with regards to flat bed lorries driving slowly around Papworth and Conington as if looking for something. This has not resulted in any thefts so far as we are aware however please do keep your eyes peeled. One crime has been recorded this week which was the theft of a Landrover Discovery that was parked on Rogues Lane in Elsworth. Further tickets have been issued this week for parking outside Papworth Hospital (within 10 metres of the junctions). I have been looking at parking in other areas of Papworth as requested by E-cops members such as Elm Way and am taking advice from my sergeant concerning that particular issue. I have been out on foot patrol quite a bit this week and the rain has managed to catch me nearly every time! If you have any issues that you feel may need my attention please do not hesitate to contact me on 0345 456 456 4.

It has been a fairly eventful week this week.

I am pleased to say that it has been reported to me that anti-social behaviour on Pendrill Court has quietened down a fair bit since it was named a policing priority at our panel meeting a while ago, which is very good news to hear!

There have been a few suspicious goings-on in Elsworth though, including leaflets being put through doors requesting childrens clothing - it was reported that the people delivering the leaflets were looking through the windows of the houses they were delivering to. Further to this there was also reports of two lads reportedly from Job Start in Nottingham going around the village looking for work. Please do be very careful who you let in to your house.

Also, the school in Elsworth was broken in to at around 5am on Monday morning. Nothing was taken but they did make an untidy search of offices and attempted (but failed) to set off a fire extinguisher.

We have had one burglary in Papworth this week. Unfortunately the point of entry was through a window which had been left open. I know the weather is very hot and stuffy at the minute but please do lock your doors and windows when you go out.
