Last Saturday, following reports of concern regarding doorstep sellers, PCSO Macinnes and colleagues stopped and questioned eight males who had been travelling around the area selling selling dusters, ironingboard covers etc from bags. The details of all males were checked and recorded and a Police Constable attended. They did have ID, however this was not an Authorised Pedlar's Certificate. Anyone wishing to carryout door to door selling of this nature is required to hold a Pedlar's certificate. This certificate is granted by Cambridgeshire Constabulary, will state the area that they are authorised to operate in and have the Cambridgeshire Constabulary Crest on. A copy of an authorised certificate will be made available shortly for your reference. |

I must admit I was too tired to compose anything resembling an email on Monday morning... Myself and PC Mark Howe worked a duty over night funded by the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership to look at the rise in vehicle crime and burglary in the Waterbeach and Willingham areas. We worked in plain clothes and after a number of hours sneaking around we were rewarded by finding two recently convicted young burglars in a stolen car in Willingham… shame for them that they did not see us coming! Both young men were arrested for offences relating to the theft of that vehicle, and the driver also for driving whilst disqualified. Both have been charged and bailed to Cambridge Youth court! With an air of smugness, I report a good nights work. I hope this is reassurance that work is going on around the clock by the neighbourhood team to catch these people! Following this; PC Phil Shulver and the burglary squad executed a warrant this morning in relation to this string of burglaries. Work continues to try and disrupt this series. For now though please be vigilant, and do not hesitate to call if you see something suspicious. |
